Unit 3 blog, Person-centered healing

I strive to be a well rounded human being so each aspect is important. I am high in some areas and low in others. Physically I am in great shape a 9 out of 10; I workout daily and watch what I put into my body. The other two are where I need improvement I would rate myself a 6 psychologically. I am not crazy by any means but military life, family life, and school work it gets kind of hectic. Lastly, I need to improve spiritually as well I also rate this as a 6. I believe in God and try to live my life as right as I can. This is the aspect that unfortunately gets neglected the most.

Physically, I would like to run longer distances I normally run 10 miles a week and would like to increase that to 15 miles. Psychologically, I would like to reach out for help. There are many great agencies available to me to cope with everyday life but I tend to try to deal with it alone. My goal there is to ask for more help. Spiritually, I would like to spend time alone for myself, time where I can close my eyes and just connect to God and focus on my life and life in general. I would like to expand on my daily prayers.

The first goal is the easiest. Just like, any other physical activity you begin slowly and gradually work up towards the goal. This is actually how I will attack all goals. I can add a simple .5 miles daily to each run. Over time this will help develop my cardiovascular endurance. The second goal can be achieved by allowing the ones closer to me to help with life’s daily stressors. I believe that this is easier than talking to a complete stranger. The last goal may be the toughest because it seems that there are not enough hours in the day. I have decided to sacrifice an hour of my sports time weekly to achieve this goal.

I think that this exercise was beneficial but boring. Most exercises like this makes me too relaxed and I get sleepy and tend to tune out the voices. I have to listen to the multiple times or else I will nod off. It did have some valid points. I will really take the points about separating the body into colors and by zones almost to explain our existence. The greatest point was seeing ourselves as the white light, the spiritual being, and as the source of healing.

My thoughts on the Journey on Relaxation

I have listened to relaxation exercises before in other classes, so it wasn't that new to me.  It used the normal techniques used for relaxation i.e. taking off loose clothing and relaxing the muscles.  One main thing that I took from this exercise was how another person's actions can influence ours.  I believe that our latest readings spoke on this very principle. The  is also very powerful and this is how we can explain why we would not want to raise or hands.  It gives great power to the conscious mind and subconscious mind to control the body, which may be the best thing that one can take from the exercise.
